https://alilochhead.com is my personal website where I publish and publicise my writing and professional services as well as other articles and links I find interesting.
When you opt in to a newsletter or blog updates, or other products I may offer on this site, I store your email address on a secure private server, I don’t collect any additional information about you and I’ll keep your details until you unsubscribe. I do use some third party providers – I’m using WordPress and by default when you leave comments on the site WordPress collects the data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. The comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so WordPress can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
WordPress.com is owned by a privately held company called Automattic, powered by open source software.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it and after your comment has been approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. The Gravatar service also comes from Automattic and I also use their Aksimet service to protect against spam and malicious comments – visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for up to one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
